How caves are formed

  1. Rain soaks in the limestone.
  2. The rain combines with carbon Dioxide.
  3. The acid seaps through the cracks in the limestone. When the water carries away the limestone leaves little tunnels.
  4. Over thousands of years lots of limestone is carried away leaving bigger tunnels and chambers of water.
  5. In time the water level drops and the ground raises leaving a cave.
